Familiar Ground is about pleasure, leisurely, unhurried, even in the face of death, about feeling the texture of oil, acrylic, structure, density of the material. About immersion in color.

This series is quite free, because I paused in the process, exhaled, and started again; there are very different paintings by their nature.. There is no unifying factor for absolutely all the works, instead, two or three paintings conduct a dialogue with each other: some on the theme of color, some on the theme of composition. But what they have in common is that they are all about grounding, rootedness, landscape, broad movements, space. That is why the color in these works is mostly calm, earthy, complex.

Earth for me is about heaviness and continuity, about slow continuation from season to season, about awakening, flowering, decline, enjoyment of fruits, and finally sleep. About something solid, about support, about the force of gravity. And of course about the material: a return to the classics of painting, to a familiar realm.

The works show different dynamics: from warm and mobile Serpen-time or Big Horizon, to philosophically gentle cold Let’s Talk or barely vibrating Mycelium.
