А справді, у які стосунки з образом ми вступаємо? Коли ми споглядаємо витвір мистецтва, ми-глядач можемо пасивно дозволити на нас впливати, або натомість, активно з ним взаємодіємо –суперечимо з образом, або погоджуємось, закохуємось у нього, або навіть бажаємо його знищити… А як впливає створення образу на самого творця? Хто кого створює? І це не марне питання.

Альона Кузнєцова і Жанна Петренко відверто розмірковують про свої стосунки з образом – і у своїх творах, і у своїх роздумах.

«Цю не зовсім “серію”, але висловлювання з 10 робіт різного формату, я вважаю пророчою, – ділиться Альона Кузнєцова: почала її ще в кінці 2019 року, бо відчувала біль і особисту кризу, яку ніяк не могла пояснити логічно, і працювала з нею аж до кінця 2021-го. Найстрашніше – це криза сенсів. Виходом було спробувати пильно придивитись в ці óбрази, від яких я значною мірою відвикла, займаючись дослідженням кольору і абстрактним мистецтвом впродовж попередніх 10 років. Ці роботи – повернення до реального життя, що містить складні стосунки, ерос і танатос, невимовне, передчуття незворотнього. На полотні крім олії, використовувала колажі, аплікації і бісер, що став ідеальним інструментом сповільнення часу».

Звернення до традиційних технік: кераміка, ткацтво, цяткування, відображає спільне відчуття змін та крихкості життя і світу навколо. І ці ж старовинні практики є одвічним засобом зцілення. «Стосунки з образом» Альона Кузнєцова, Жанна Петренко

And really, what kind of relations do we enter into with the image? When we contemplate a work of art, we, the viewers, can passively allow ourselves to be influenced, or instead, actively interact with it – contradict the image, agree, fall in love with it, or even want to destroy it…

And how does the creation of an image affect the creator himself? Who creates whom? And this is not an idle question.

Alena Kuznetsova and Zhanna Petrenko openly reflect on their relations with the image – both in their works and in their thoughts.

“I consider this not quite a ‘series’, but a cycle of 10 works with different formats, to be prophetic. I started it at the end of 2019, because felt pain and a personal crisis that I could not explain logically, and worked until the end of 2021. The worst thing is a crisis of meaning. The solution was to try to take a closer look at these images, which I had largely weaned myself off by doing color research and abstract art for the previous 10 years. These works are a return to real life, which contains complex relationships, eros and thanatos, the unspeakable, the foreboding of the irreversible. On canvas, in addition to oil, she used collages, applications, and beads, which became an ideal tool for slowing down time. Returning to figurative painting after 10 years of working with non-objective is very symbolic, it’s like stopping hiding behind my cozy abstract color, looking closely at myself (and the world), at my aims and fears. To have the courage to change completely. Still, with the dark humor and kind of dada. The cycle refers to the historical Ukrainian background through the partial speckling with beads and rhinestones as in traditional Ukrainian cloth.” – Alena Kuznetsova
