The beginning of a new large painting from my Flowers or Explosions series. It’s a symbolic, primitive-style painting series that I started in 2022, with meaningful titles for each work. I planned to continue the series last year, but it was really hard to begin- I kept delaying and postponing it… Still, the process has finally started, despite all the difficulties with electricity, heating, water, and internet nowadays in Kyiv.

I work from the initial sketch, building up the first layers in the darkest and dullest colours, gradually moving toward lighter and brighter tones. At first, the painting looks strange and even ugly, but later it becomes much better, and interesting textures begin to appear.
