  • Alena Kuznetsova is a professional multidisciplinary artist born in 1986. Lives and works in Kyiv, Ukraine. Participated in local and international projects, author of 14 solo shows.


  • “My creative work includes painting, graphics, land art, video installation, and ceramic sculpture. In my artistic practice, I explore the concepts of movement and changes, the cycling phenomenon of life and death, which are mainly felt in the context of events taking place in Ukraine from 2014 to nowadays.”


  • The paintings and sculptures are privately owned and in collections in Ukraine, the USA, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Spain, Hong Kong, and France.

The story of one oil painting title 📇
📍‘Se
The story of one oil painting title 📇 📍‘Serpen-time’, 150*113 cm, oil on canvas, 2024. It was created at my Kyiv studio, still during the war, in the end of summer, in August (which is ‘serpen’ in Ukrainian). The name also alludes to a famous gallery and a serpentarium as well (from my personal experience). It is a rather interesting story with the painting’s title, because I had no idea in the beginning how to name it. Then I decided to ask for help at my fb profile, and my friends and people there advised me about 20 names. The most widespread was connected with August, and ‘Serpen’ with variations ☺️ Thankful everyone took part in co-creation, especially @sasha.horbatiuk , who’s version with ‘Serpentine’ was the best for me! 🙏 Also many thanks to @dave_ciolkosz , who gave me his stretchers with unusual sizes, after leaving Ukraine. It is made on it) PS I was living my best life those times, enjoying summer and new painting experience in spite of danger of missile attacks, which we are mostly got used to.

The experience of every commission is unique and everything depends on the task and on the time i have. Even if I got reference, the process always leads me and shows the better way to go. I love experimenting and has a freedom to do this even in commissions because my experience allows me to. I also love measurements for example a limited range of colour gamma like in this work. Of course, such sophisticated technique pointillism - requires much time and attention. I can do such painting and nothing more else. As a result, such a work will be more expensive then each painting of three or four simultaneously in one task. #alenakuznetsovaartist #painting #commissions #artist

Working on further with my fav painting size: ~150*100 cm ❤️ Yep, back to the thing I’m really good at: oil abstract 🤩 Oil on canvas, work in progress, but really close to the end. Love when the painting is a little bit “unfinished”. Just remembered my basic skill: oil painting when the canvas stands vertically, working with abstract color, like painting the clouds ☁️Searching for the exact colour gamma, responding my feelings, energy and mood is always exciting (this turned out to be an autumn gamma) 🍁 #workinprogress #art #redabstract
