There are projects–concepts, projects–symbols, projects–research, and there are projects–therapy, such as Familiar Ground. When I was creating these works — every one of them — I sought to find balance and a certain gentle structure that would warm one with a sense of safety, acting as therapy and support.
Familiar Ground is about my search for an inner foundation during a time when things were at their hardest. It is a practice of accumulating strength — dense, like a warm embrace. In these works, life itself is felt through color, which is mostly mature and seasoned, soft and harmonious. What unites them is a sense of grounding, rooting, landscape, broad gestures, and space.**
This kind of color grows beyond painting and extends into sculpture — into the ceramic series Fantastic Mushrooms. Clay and chamotte are remarkable, almost therapeutic materials, directly connected to the earth and to tradition, to Ukrainian applied arts. At the same time, the very concept of mushrooms carries deep personal connotations for me; it is the least studied kingdom in science, with immense potential and a vast diversity of forms and possibilities.

Є проєкти-концепції, є проєкти-символи, є проєкти-дослідження, а є проєкти-терапія, такі, як Знайома Земля. Коли я писала ці роботи, кожну з них, я прагнула знайти баланс і певну м’яку структуру, яка буде зігрівати відчуттям безпеки, буде діяти як терапія і підтримка.
Знайома Земля – про мій пошук внутрішньої опори в період, коли було найважче. Це практика накопичення сили, щільної, як теплі обійми. В цих роботах саме життя відчувається через колір, який здебільшого зрілий і досвідчений, м’який і гармонійний. Спільним є те, що вони всі про заземлення, укорінення, ландшафт, широкі рухи, простір.
Такий колір тут проростає з живопису далі – у скульптуру, серію кераміки Фантастичні Гриби. Глина, шамот – дивовижний і також терапевтичний матеріал, безпосередньо пов’язаний з землею і традицією, українським ужитковим мистецтвом. З іншої сторони концепція саме грибів має для мене глибокі особисті конотації; це найменш вивчене наукою окреме царство з величезним потенціалом і можливостями різних видів.
